Announcement from the Southold Town Housing Advisory Commission:
Please be advised that the Southold Town Board will be holding a Public Hearing on Tuesday, September 26th at Town Hall at 4:30 pm regarding the town’s new Southold Town Community Housing Plan.
This new Plan centers on promoting opportunities for affordable and workforce housing in this town. The link below will take you to the Plan if you want to review it for yourself. Click on this link and scroll down to “Final Version of the Community Housing Plan.”
http://southoldtownny.gov/1943/Community-Housing-Fund;
As a person who a member of a local Civic Associaton, we urge you to attend this public hearing. You may do so either in person (preferably) or via Zoom.
You may also email your comments on the plan to: housingplan@southoldtownny.gov.
In early 2023, the NSCA had contacted Dan Goodwin, Superintendent of Highways for Southold Town, regarding the extremely poor state of the sidewalks in New Suffolk. Dan Goodwin agreed that this project was needed. He was actively working on achieving funding for the repairs, however the project was initially unlikely to be done this year. Thankfully we found out recently that he was successful!
As some of you may have seen, the town has already started repairs on the sidewalks.
Dan emailed us recently and explained the time frame for the repairs: " For this year we will be going [New Suffolk Rd] from King St to Main St then along Main Street to 1st Street. Construction on the replacement section should be completed in about a week and a half depending on weather. We will be doing some in house repairs in front of the school either this fall or in the spring. That section is very complicated due to the retaining wall and its proximity to the school property line as well as a few trees which would need to be removed. This approach will be far less disruptive to the area. "
Please be aware of the workers and traffic pattern changes in town from this project, as well as the PSEGLI pole repair work in both New Suffolk and Cutchogue.
We hope you are all enjoying the start of Fall in New Suffolk.
