To Our Community:
The New Suffolk Common School is pleased to inform our community that after much consideration, the Board of Trustees has chosen to select Southold Union Free Schools as the District of attendance for New Suffolk students. The Board of Trustees will act to formalize this selection at its next regularly scheduled board of education meeting on March 12, 2024. Should the community vote in favor of the move to a non-instruction district on March 5th the selection will apply to our elementary students as well as secondary.
We thank all parents, students, community members and any other stakeholders who have provided input for the Board’s consideration as it relates to a selection of the District of attendance. Given the prior relationship with Southold, and in consideration of Southold’s academic and athletic offerings, we believe it to be in the best interests of District students to continue our agreement with Southold to educate New Suffolk students.
We are working with Southold to provide our parents a few dates/times where they will be able to tour the school facilities, and will communicate those to all as soon as possible.
We encourage the community to attend the special meeting on February 27th, 7pm, at the New Suffolk School. This meeting will solely focus on the upcoming vote on March 5th regarding the Non-Instructional School District. As a reminder to parents within the District, we will need to provide Southold with definitive attendance numbers for the 2024/2025 school year. We ask that you please reach out and inform us of your household enrollment within the district by April 1st.
